Thinking of app-lying for vet school?

PROSPECTIVE veterinary students can now find out more about applying for vet school and what it is like to be a qualified vet thanks to ‘Be a Vet’, a new app created by staff at the University of Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine. The vet school says that many students can find the transition to life as a university veterinary student challenging, particularly if they are leaving home for the first time or planning to study in another country. The app, which was developed by Peter Hastie and Jo-Anne Murray, aims to help prospective students understand more about what it is like to be a veterinary student and, ultimately, a qualified veterinary surgeon. It provides information about the diversity of career opportunities that are available to vets, and includes short video clips from leading veterinarians. It also gives potential applicants information about the type of experience they should try to get before deciding if a veterinary career is for them. Once a student has decided to apply for vet school, the app provides information to Glasgow, the app provides information about the School of Veterinary Medicine, including its history, accreditation, campus, facilities and key staff contacts. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
